Introducing Company Concentric

Tuesday 23rd October 2018

Nine months ago, we created our show ‘Swapping Shadows’ (photos below). This month, Shivaangee and I decided to find a company name for up-and-coming dancing projects. Here it is, short and quick: Company Concentric.

Why concentric? Because we play with geometry and symmetries in choreography? Yes, but not only. You could also describe us as a circle of collaborators who share and expand the same core of ideas. None of us owns the centre. We simply find balance in motion, by gravitating around a common vision.

Who are we? Yanaëlle Thiran draws the outline of our choreographies. Theatre designers Akshy Marayen and Sally Somerville-Woodiwis create bigger circles of fabrics and lights to ensure our work resonates beyond its movement content. Pianist Mikaela Livadiotis has just joined the team, adding an extra echo to our concentric scheme. This year, she makes live music our fuel and our steam!

Catch our new show ‘Play On’ at The Place on Wednesday 23rd January 2019. Yes, that’s exactly 3 months from now, and on the exact same day as last year’s show ‘Swapping Shadows’! More details to follow.
