Hello!
I’m Yanaëlle (she/her), a Belgian-British dance artist, born in Belgium in the 1990s and based in Eastbourne (UK) since 2020. I work freelance as a choreographer, company director, teaching artist, and performer. Read on to find out more about each aspect of my portfolio.
To pronounce my name, say [ya] as in ‘yard’, [na] as in ‘Canada’ and then [el] like the letter L.

A choreographer
I choreographed my first dances when I was at primary school and haven’t stopped since! Now, my choreographic portfolio spans stage performances, participatory pieces, online events, outdoor experiences, and dance films.

A company director
I co-founded Company Concentric in 2018 and have been and co-directing it since. Our circle of artists leads community projects, creates original performances, hosts improvisation sessions and roundtable events for creatives.

A teaching artist
I teach creative dance, contemporary techniques, choreography and improvisation to children, young people and adults across London and East Sussex. My freelance work includes weekly classes at Eastbourne Dance Space (East Sussex), The Place (London) and for Sadler’s Wells (London).

A performer
My experience as a performer spans stage performances, installations, videos and site-specific works. Often involved in interdisciplinary collaborations, I have danced in art galleries, recital rooms, shopping malls, public gardens and even at a train station.
So far I have danced for and with:
- The band Column258 (since 2023)
- Artist Gwendolyn Kassenaar (2022)
- Musician Asha Parkinson (2022)
- Composer Helen Caddick and choreographer Kamala Devam (2021)

Training and Achievements
Since graduating from London Contemporary Dance School in 2015, I have trained at Art Factory International (Italy), completed my dance teacher training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and gained a master’s degree in choreography at the University of Chichester. In 2017, pianist Mikaela Livadiotis and I won the first prize in the Gladys Puttick Improvisation Competition. I’m honoured to have received London Contemporary Dance School’s Principal’s Award in 2015 and the Valerie Briginshaw Prize for Dance Writing and Academic Excellence in 2020.
